INO’s RPC-DAQ module: Performance review and upgrade plans

The India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) has proposed to build a magnetised Iron-CALorimeter (ICAL) study atmospheric neutrinos. ICAL detector will use 28,800 Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) of 2 m × area as active elements. particle interaction signals in the RPCs are amplified and converted into logic using discriminators. These processed by RPC-DAQ module which is mounted with every RPC. built around Intel’s Cyclone IV FPGA, HPTDC Ethernet controller W5300. Pre-trigger generated each RPC-DAQ, participate forming global event trigger (GT). On receiving GT, records mainly time, RPC strip-hit pattern along relative time stamps hits. strip rates, recorded periodically order monitor health RPCs. then packages these data sends them over back-end servers. performance upgrade plans be presented.
